We are hoping to keep this page current on a weekly basis. Check here for upcoming instrument configurations and scheduled maintenance.

Liquid helium fills normally render all instruments unstable for a few hours. Fills generally occur mid- March, June, September, and December. Signs are posted on helium fill days. Please do not enter the Facility until the signs are removed - this a tense and somewhat dangerous procedure.

Liquid nitrogen fills are performed every week and are neither tense nor dangerous. However, because the Facility is so crowded, we will sometimes be closed.

Periodic maintenance is often performed on Friday mornings. The instruments may be out of service for several hours whenever they need to be turned off for maintenance. (Also, it is correct to anticipate that the instruments are unusable for several hours after a power outage.)
